I am going to write exactly what I wrote for Vol. 6. It’s kind of difficult to write a review for such a book. There will be no use just by owning this book, you will need to have the DVD to utilize this book in order to perform the routines in it.

This is the final book in this series, all effects in the Vol 7 of Mind Mysteries DVD are dissected and explained further. Each effect is divided into 2 parts, the history part of the effect and the analysis part. This book is easy to read but it will make better sense to you if you have the DVD.

The routine’s methods are not explained in this book, that’s why it’s called a guide book. This book is filled with information with regards to the routines in Vol 7 DVD. Would it make you a better performer? It’d probably would. If you are using the materials in the DVD, this book will help you improve your performance.

Besides routines in the book in which the modus operandi are not discussed, Richard Osterlind has included a bonus section at the end of the book. He has written an essay/routine titled “Mentalism Expanded”. This is a routine whereby you will be able to reveal a spectator’s card as well as reveal what card the spectator is thinking of.

Richard Osterlind is a very talented man and he has invented a vast amount of effects and has shared it with the magic community. If you are a fan of his, you should get the DVD as well as the guide book.

Review of Mes(s)merize by Stefan Olschewski – Book

The description in the ad for this effect is rather unbelievable, rather bold I’d say, however, this routine is as what the ad described and it is not a pipedream.

If you were to perform it as what the book says, you would require a lot of envelopes and a lot of spectators. Fret not; an “economy” version is included in this booklet. The economy version doesn’t require any envelopes at all. This effect is best perform for a large group, it won’t be as effective if you perform it to one person but I guess you can modify it to perform it to a single spectator. You will need to make your own gimmick which is very easy to do.

Apart from the main routine, there are many other routines based on this effect included. These bonus routines are from different contributors who Stefan Olschewski have shared the idea with. Some of these ideas are; predicting a bill’s serial number, predicting an earlier “prediction” and even predicting a drawing. Some pretty cool and nice ideas there.

If you buy this, you are not just buying a single routine; this idea is like a utility device. You will have many applications for it.
