Review of Starlight by Kreis Magic – Trick

I have always like products from Kreis Magic. They have come up with many quality and precision stuffs lately. However, I don’t quite like Starlight. Using a card to reveal another selected card is not a new concept, there are many effects out that that uses this concept. Some decks even have the name of a card in small prints printed on certain cards.

As seen from the demo, the spectator is able to know what card the other spectator selected. It would not be as easy as it looks. I tried to look at it casually and it took a while to really see it, some angles are easier to see and you’d need to experiment on which is the best way.

This is a novel way of revealing a selected card, not the best way though. Rating 3/5

Review of Classic Force by Phil Jay and JB Magic – DVD

There are many marketed DVD/ books on the Classic Force. This force is one of the most innocent and undetectable card forces. If you think about it, the “move” is not difficult at all, it’s just spreading of the cards but the classic force is just not about spreading the cards, it’s more of a psychological move. Phil Jay explains what you need to do to perfect the Classic force. He will explain what to look out for and also the timing for the Classic force.

The DVD is film in the living room of a house and most of the explanation is done while Phil Jay is being interviewed by Chris Dugdale. Considering that the classic force is more of a psychological technique, teaching it via an interview conversation is a good way of explaining the whys and hows. Of course Phil Jay also included a hands on with the cards. A behind the back classic force is also taught.

This is a very detailed DVD on the Classic force, if you want to learn a good card force, invest in this DVD. Recommended. Rating 4/5.
